Bringing Up BatesĀ star Mama Jane made headlines last month after getting rushed to the hospital. The 86-year-old grandmother suffered from a stroke. She was fortunate that a family member saw her in the middle of the farm. In one of Carlin’s vlogs, she revealed that her grandmother wouldn’t have survived if she hadn’t been found sooner. Gil and Kelly Jo asked for prayers online throughout Jane’s recovery. Since then, the Bates kids have been taking turns watching over Jane, especially now that Papa Bill is gone. LydiaĀ documented her recent tripĀ to South Carolina with her family. TheĀ Bringing Up BatesĀ star shared clips and pictures of her kids having fun in the grass. According to Lydia, it’s the life she wants to have when she turns 80. Lydia wrote, ā€œSpending the day watching the kids exploring the farm???.ā€ Another photo shows Lydia’s kids, Ryker and Kaia, being much closer. Lydia shared that watching her kids become best friends is the sweetest feeling ever. But what caught many people’s attention was the photos and clips of Mama Jane.

Mama Jane Resurfaces In New Video After Stroke Scare

In an Instagram post, Lydia shared a video of Mama Jane watching over her granddaughter, who is learning how to walk. She was full of energy and was cheering for Kaia for her latest milestone. Lydia captioned, ā€œLearning to walk with Janey’s walker might be one of my favorite memories. I could watch them all day?ā€ While it seems Jane still can’t stand up for long, it’s clear that she’s now getting her energy back amid her recovery from a stroke.

Lydia later shared another photo of Mama Jane in aĀ rare casual outfit. ManyĀ Bringing Up BatesĀ fans were glad that Jane’s big smile is back, and they wish for her to get even stronger. Mama Jane has been a warrior. Aside from fighting stroke, she also finished her radiation treatment to beat cancer in June 2025. She was diagnosed with cancer on her nose. It was also a difficult time for Jane, as her husband, Papa Bill, passed away just three weeks after she completed her medication. Granddaughter Whitney gave birth to the Bates’ family’s 40th grandchild on April 24th. The little girl is named after Mama Jane; her name is Ella Jane.
