TLC might have canceled Little People, Big World back in 2024, but Amy Roloff isn’t regretful and is happy to be back in her day job.
The reality star shared an update on Instagram on Friday (May 15), posting a photo from inside a school classroom. In the pic, Roloff, who worked for years as pre-school teacher before becoming a TV personality, posed in front of a whiteboard and a map of North America.
“I can’t believe the school year is coming to an end already. I love subbing and grateful I can be in the classroom for the teacher,” she captioned the post, revealing she has resumed work as a substitute teacher.
She added, “There are challenges in the classroom sometimes but I always have hope for these kids at the end of the day. Until next time . . . keep learning.”
Little People, Big World fans might remember that Roloff worked as a full-time pre-school teacher in the early seasons before leaving to focus on her family, her farm, and the show’s filming schedule. However, she revealed in March 2024 that she’d returned to teaching, just months before it was confirmed the reality series was ending after 25 seasons.
Fans jumped into the comments of Roloff’s post to praise her work as a substitute teacher, with one Instagram user writing, “Wish you subbed at my granddaughters school!”
“Teacher here, thank you for subbing!!! It sure has been a challenging time,” said another.
“You were both of my boys favorite sub teacher at West Union!” another added.
“We love you! Best sub ever!” one fan wrote.
Another added, “As someone who is a Paraprofessional thank you for supporting the school by subbing. Sometimes it can be hard to find a sub and having to pull other staff isn’t easy so THANK YOU!”
“Teacher Amy looks good on you!!!!!” said another.
Little People, Big World premiered on March 4, 2006, and followed the lives of the six-member Roloff family farm near Portland, Oregon, including parents Matt and Amy Roloff and one of their children, Zach, all of whom have dwarfism.
“TLC came to us about five or six years ago, and so we suddenly realized we were given a great opportunity to educate people about dwarfism,” Roloff said in a 2010 interview with Ability Magazine. “When it was offered that we do a show about our lives, my husband and I were like, ‘Wow, nothing like this has even been on the air.’ Nothing had depicted dwarfism in an everyday way.”
Roloff divorced Matt in April 2016 and went on to marry Chris Marek in August 2021. The wedding to Chris took place on the Roloff Farm and was featured on the show’s 22nd season.
