ITV Emmerdale double return ‘sealed’ to help Jacob take down Dr Todd

Fans of Emmerdale believe they’ve worked out a double return as part of Jacob Sugden’s current plot.
Jacob (portrayed by Joe-Warren Plant) has endured a hectic few months in the village. His mother, Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), tragically died in the limo crash last year, which also took the lives of Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
Jacob was then left gobsmacked when his grandfather, Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), unexpectedly married Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) on Christmas Eve 2025 in a bid to protect Jacob’s inheritance.
Jacob and his wife, Sarah (Katie Hill), welcomed their first child last week when Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) delivered their daughter, Leyla, in a hospital lift. However, Jacob and Sarah remain unaware that Leyla is actually Charity’s biological child with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), reports the Express.

To complicate matters further, Jacob’s sinister boss Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) coerced Charity into persuading Jacob to withdraw his complaint against her, or she’d reveal Leyla’s true parentage.
ITV soap watchers will recall that Dr Todd has been tormenting Jacob over recent weeks, prompting the trainee medic to lodge a formal complaint with HR about his supervisor’s questionable teaching practices.
During Thursday’s (April 30) episode, which is now available to stream on ITVX, Jacob continues to feel uncomfortable around Dr Todd. Later, Todd, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) are all getting along in the pub when Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) proposes a doubles darts match, pairing Todd and Vanessa together.
As the game begins, Vanessa remains unaware of Todd’s advances. However, Todd subsequently seizes the chance to spread lies about Jacob.
“This morning, when we met at the café, he engineered it so that we could talk to each other alone. And now he’s here, taking up my space,” Todd said.

Now, numerous Emmerdale viewers believe that Jacob’s adoptive mum, Alicia Metcalfe (Natalie Anderson), and his biological dad, Justin Gallagher (Andrew Langtree), might make a comeback to the village to meet baby Leyla, while also helping Jacob bring down Dr Todd.
Alicia famously departed the Dales back in 2015, though actress Natalie Anderson has since made her way back to the soap world as Danielle Silverton in Coronation Street. Meanwhile, Justin said his goodbyes to Emmerdale in 2012 after Jacob refused to live with him and his new partner.
“Just thinking Alicia Gallagher could come back to meet the baby and also we need to see Justin,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page, with another adding: “Omg Alicia would take down Todd in a heartbeat.”
A third declared: “Yess I would love this,” while another fan proposed: “Previous characters need recasting. It would be [a] great opportunity to bring in new storylines.”
