Bringing Up Bates Star Carlin Bates Reveals What Happened When She Tried to Fly with Nearly 70 Oz. of Breastmilk

Carlin Bates almost had to pour out nearly 70 oz. of breastmilk on a recent flight with her family.
The Bringing Up Bates star, 27, shared a video on her Instagram on Monday, March 30, which showed her and her husband Evan Stewart heading into TSA security together. The mom of three admitted that she was nervous about security since she was attempting to bring in 69 oz. of breastmilk.
“What if they literally make me throw all of this away,” says Carlin, who has a hand on a large freezer bag filled with her breastmilk.
“POV you’re flying with 69 oz. of breastmilk,” is written across the first part of the clip.
“I will cry,” admits Carlin, who welcomed her third baby this past September. She is seen walking hand-in-hand through the airport with her son Zade Patrick, 4.
‘I will say, Carlin literally pumped an insane amount. So much milk,” says Evan. “If they make you throw it out, you’re going to be so mad.”
“Oh, surely not. Right? Literally, this is a prized possession right here, okay? Pure gold,” explains Carlin.
The clip then shifts to show Carlin speaking with TSA agents. She can be seen explaining that she’s carrying breastmilk in the freezer bag and asking if she can take it into security.
According to the TSA website, formula, breast milk, toddler drinks and baby/toddler food in quantities “greater than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters are allowed” in carry-on baggage and don’t need to be in a quart-sized bag. They are considered medically necessary liquids.
“She’s opening it and showing him!” explains Evan. “They brought a second person in. This is not looking good.”
Carlin then walks back over to her family with a smile on her face.
“The first guy made me so nervous, and he was like, ‘You have to dump everything out. You can’t take it,’ ” says Carlin. “And then the other guy was like, ‘Ok, you can.’ So he said to tell them up here, and we’ll see.”
The two then go through security, where Carlin explains the situation. They take the bag from her and wipe down her hands before returning the “liquid gold.”
“What in the world? That was the easiest thing ever,” says Carlin. “So I was way too nervous about that. If you are traveling with breastmilk, literally, you should not be worried at all because that was so easy.”
“I mean, maybe it’s different at different airports, but that was a breeze. 10/10,” she adds.
“I was way too nervous about this….🫣 Baby girl I’m coming for you!! 🍼,” she captioned the video.
