Alaskan Bush People star Bear Brown revealed that the search for his missing brother, Matt Brown, has been paused as the family fears the worst.

“There’s a really really bad storm going on right now,” Bear, 38, said in a Friday, May 29, TikTok video. “They had to call off the search because of the super bad storm. And so, it takes time.”

The update comes as the family fears Matt, 43, has taken his own life.

As In Touch previously reported, Bear shared “some really bad news” about the former Discovery Channel star in a Thursday TikTok video.

“I’m being told that late last night Matt took his own life,” Bear said, acknowledging that he couldn’t “100 percent” confirm the report. “Sources say that he was seen in a river, at a river or close to a river and that he took his own life and they saw him, like, floating down the river.”

In his follow-up video, Bear added, “there’s a very, very, very small chance that it’s not [Matt].”

“I’m praying it’s not him, but it looks like it is,” he said.

The Brown family’s relationship with Matt was strained for years due to his struggles with “alcohol and drugs.”

“Matt has done a lot of bad things. A lot of bad things y’all don’t know about…Now is not the time to speak on stuff like that,” he said on Friday. “I just want you guys to know that the family didn’t and never turned their back on Matt…Matt distanced himself from the family completely.”

Amid reports that Matt has been posting to social media following his disappearance, Bear claims that is simply not true.

“Matt only has a YouTube channel. He’s not on Facebook. He’s not on TikTok. He’s not on any of those,” he revealed. “Those are scammers that are posing as him…He’s only ever been on YouTube.”
