Jinger Duggar is sharing what life has been like since her brother Joseph Duggar was arrested in mid-March.

Joseph, 31, was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, Florida’s Bay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. Joseph is accused of molesting a then-9-year-old girl who was on vacation with her family in Panama City Beach, Fla., in 2020.

His wife Kendra Duggar, 27, was also arrested in Arkansas on March 20, in a separate case, and she and Joseph are each charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree, the Tontitown Police Department (TPD) said in a news release.

Following their arrests, Jinger has commented minimally. On Wednesday, April 29, she posted an “Ask Me Anything” session to her Instagram Stories, and one user wrote, “Are you okay? You look so disconnected in your podcasts. It’s ok to not be okay. I am sorry.”

Jinger, 32, replied with a photo of a cross outside, and wrote: “Thanks for asking. It’s been a heavy season that reopened old wounds.”

“I wanted to talk about these things on the pod, and at the same time it’s honestly so hard to do,” she continued.

Her reply concluded: “I’ve been plugged in deep with my community here, not as active on socials, enjoying fun days with my little fam, and God is giving me help as I see brighter days ahead.”

The April 29 statement comes nearly a month after Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, released a short episode of their podcast, Jinger & Jeremy, on March 25 to address Joseph’s arrest.

“I did not think my heart could break like it has this week,” she said at the time. “The pain and heartbreak that we’ve had over this and just thinking of how it’s affected so many — yeah, it’s just unthinkable. It’s so hard and painful on many levels.”

During the episode, Jinger also reflected on her family’s history with legal trouble. Her older brother, Josh, 38, was convicted of receiving and possessing material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, also known as child sexual abuse material, in 2021. He was also accused of sexually abusing five girls, including his sisters Jill and Jessa.

In April 2026, Josh had two months added to his sentence, and is now scheduled to be released from FCI Seagoville in Texas on Feb. 2, 2033.

“You can’t be prepared for news like this, even though we’ve experienced something very similar before, with one of my other siblings, who made unthinkable choices, decisions that have affected all of us,” Jinger said on the March 25 podcast.

“And yet the pain and hurt that’s caused to us, but then to so many others, is just so hard. It’s hard to know what to do sometimes, moving forward. You just feel the weight of it.”

Since Jinger’s podcast, several other siblings have reacted to the news of Joseph and Kendra’s arrests, including Jana, Jill, Jessa and Joy-Anna.

On April 17, the pair both entered not guilty pleas to four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment, in entry of appearance motions obtained by PEOPLE.

That same day, a judge signed off on an order dissolving Kendra’s no-contact order. She was reunited with their four children on April 29.

Joseph and Kendra are now expected to make their first court appearance in Arkansas on Aug. 10.

Unlike Kendra, Joseph is still not allowed any unsupervised contact with his four children or his two youngest siblings. This is a condition of his pretrial release in a Florida case, to which he also pleaded not guilty.
