Welcome to Plathville’s Ethan Plath and Olivia Plath Finalize Divorce

Ethan Plath and Olivia Plath have officially welcomed a new phase in their lives.

The Welcome to Plathville stars finalized their divorce, with documents obtained by E! News listing Feb. 25 as the date their marriage was terminated in Minnesota.

Though Olivia and Ethan, both 27, announced their breakup in October 2023 following five years of marriage, their filing noted that they had been separated since Feb. 25, 2022.

In their divorce settlement, the former couple agreed to waive “spousal maintenance whatsoever from one another,” with Ethan keeping some of their investments as well as his vintage cars. Meanwhile, Olivia received her company Sunshine Media and their 2016 Subaru Outback.

Ethan—the eldest son of Kim Plath and Barry Plath, whose lives with their 10 children were documented on TLC’s Welcome to Plathville—had originally shared the reason for his split with Olivia, writing in a now-deleted October 2023 Instagram post, “It just didn’t work out between us, though Lord knows we both gave it all we had.”

“It seemed we were constantly pulling each other in opposite directions in life with different goals,” he added. “I wish Olivia the best in the future ahead. I care for her deeply and always will.”

Olivia also reflected on her relationship with Ethan, which included a brief separation before their October 2018 marriage, as well as another temporary split in 2021.

“I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever – but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in,” she wrote in an October 2023 Instagram post, “and at 18 I didn’t know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself.”

She continued, “Ive already begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing and rebuilding and I know that is a process that I will continue to prioritize throughout my life.”

But despite their breakup, Olivia was grateful for her time with Ethan.

“There were good moments and I want to remember and honor those. We fell in love as children and are going our separate ways as adults,” she concluded. “Thank you for the good times, Ethan. I wish the best for you.”
