Survivor’s Jeff Probst Reveals Why He’ll Never Host Another Reality TV Show

Jeff Probst, who has hosted all 50 seasons of Survivor since the series premiered in 2000, is remaining locked in on the competition franchise.
The 64-year-old television staple revealed why he doesn’t want to host any other reality TV show during a panel discussion at The Tribe Has Spoken: An Evening with Jeff Probst and Survivor 50 Castaways event on March 10.
“For me, I made a conscious decision years ago — I don’t want to have another show,” said Probst at The Paley Museum in New York City.

The longtime host added, “You know, people start saying, ‘We should do something else.’ No, I want every single idea I have to go into this show because this is the show I work on.”
For his dedicated hosting efforts, Probst has won Outstanding Reality Host four times at the Emmy Awards over the years.

“I didn’t understand the juggernaut that Survivor was out of the gate,” he explained at the time. “I just thought it was popular, and that was cool, but I didn’t really understand the significance of the ratings and all that.”
Probst had a light bulb moment about the series’ longevity when he became showrunner and executive producer in 2010.
“I realize, ‘Oh, this show could run until all humans die,’ ” he said. “Because the format is so simple: take a group of strangers, force them to work together while conspiring against each other, and in the end, the jury decides who wins. It’s just what you do with it inside that little box.”
Survivor airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+ on Wednesdays.
